Meet the Doctor

Dr. Riva Das is a board-certified General Surgeon, fellowship trained in minimally invasive Colorectal Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Originally from Rochester Hills, Michigan, she graduated from Duke University in 2008 with a degree in Chemistry and minors in German and Biology. After attending medical school at the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine, she went on to complete her General Surgery residency at Abington Jefferson Health outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She then completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Colon & Rectal Surgery at the Colon & Rectal Clinic of Orlando/Orlando Health in Orlando, Florida, focused on robotic and advanced laparoscopic techniques in treating complex Colorectal disease.
Dr. Das is a world traveler and global health advocate. She has served mission trips in several countries including Ecuador, India, Bolivia, and the Dominican Republic to make advanced techniques accessible to underserved areas. Locally, she strives to do the same by serving as Medical Director of We Care Manatee, a charity organization dedicated to providing uninsured residents of Manatee County with free medical care. Outside of medicine, she enjoys travel, yoga, and plays in a variety of social sports leagues. She is also a violinist and has played in several community orchestras over the years. She resides in Lakewood Ranch, Florida with her husband Danny and loves spending time with their wonderful twin boys and dog Loki.
